Established in 1891 by Messrs Purdey, Holland, Webley, Colt, Cogswell, Harrison, Grant, Moore, Grey, Westley Richards & Woodward to provide a collective voice for British gunmakers when dealing with legislative threats and frictions with proof authorities, railways, rogue dealers etc.
In 1896, working with Mr. Eley and Mr. Kynoch, the chamber sizes for shotguns were standardised to what we have across the world today.
These days we do much the same.
